This isn't a troll thread, but do you think nature / the outdoors is becoming "irrelevant"?

Every society on earth seems to be pursuing the Western definition of civilization, and in these countries we find people moving away from small towns towards urban centers, and their children becoming introverted and obsessed with technology and physical inaction.

In a few years there is likely to be a real alternative to real life offered by virtual reality, and the idea of "real life", let alone rural environments, seem like something from the 18th century in comparison. I guess I'm just following trends through to your logical conclusion, but I'd like to hear your thoughts.
