"Leave no trace"

No.471146 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I've always loved being outdoors, and being Scandinavian I grew up outdoors. The most fun you could have was building huge treehouses in the woods. And the best part, apart from actually nailing the pieces in place, was felling and logging near fully-grown spruces to be able to get material in the first place. Even as an adult I still find this fun.

Reading threads on /out/ though, it seems a lot of the people on here subscribe to the new "leave no trace" practice and are pretty anal about it too (especially among Americans this seems very prevalent). For me it would literally take all the fun away.

Have you lote ever experienced what it is like to go "real /out/" so to say and take a few trees down for a shelter, a bonfire and maybe do some whittling?

Or are you blindly knocking it because in your city-dwelling mind it is somehow not ethical to actually use the vast resources contained in a forest?
