Rod recommendations?

I'm looking to dive into fishing and need a couple of rod/reel recommendations. At the moment, my most immediate setups would be for trout. So far, I think I found the reel that I want: Shimano Sedona FD 1000. I still can't decide on a good rod though. This is a rig for river trout that have been stocked.

Second would be for bass and crappie. Could these two fish be comprised into one rod or should I buy two separate rods?

Third would be for catfish. (I know, everyone on /out/ hates catfish. I came across this one, and realize the reel is shit, but was curious if this is a decent setup.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Browsing through such vast knowledge and opinions, it's hard to settle on one.

They used to (they still might) sell Ugly Stik Steelhead spinning rods like 7-9 foot long through cabelas, idk if they still do. Shimano dope reels I have a lighter trout outfit with shimano sahara and a couple ice fishing setups with shimano siennas. Decent priced reels. But yeah nothing triumphs ugly stik for durability.

Trout and crappie can be done with the same rod,
I use a St Croix Premier PS66LF2. Its landed 18 inch trout and 12 inch crappie. Inline spinners in white, yellow and black work well for trout. Trout magnets and crappie jigs for crappie.

Bass get a medium 6'6" or 7' spinning rod with a 3000 size reel 8 lb test line. Wacky rigged senkos, spinnerbaits and hula poppers are some good starting bass lures.

THIS. My dad bought me an Ugly Stik for my 13th birthday and it might have been the best thing he ever did, Lasted through 10 years of fishing (friend sat on tip and broke it) & ugly stick replaced it no questions asked

Anything really, except super cheap ass walmart rods.
Shimano, zebco, Okuma, ugly stick.
You really only need two rods, but 3 would be decent. 1 for bait 1 for lure 1 for big fish.

every summer i go to thrift markets and find old poles and reels, clean and fix them and make full rods. its a lot of fun and you actually find some good stuff for like 15% the price.

other than that i'd say any 15 dollar ugly stick pole from walmart and a decent reel should last you forever.

Shimano makes good reels, so it's a good choice. It could do you well for trout, bass, and crappie.

Now the type of rod that can be used is only determined by the bait/lure you're using. For example, a rooster tail can work well for trout and bluegill which goes better with a slow action rod, while a soft plastic works better with a faster action rod.

Anyways, I've had quite a few Shakespeare's that have broken on me and plenty of fishing buddies who have had broken ones. I don't buy them because I think they're durable, I buy them because they are a decent cheap reel/rod combo and I don't mind if they get fucked. Shimano, Abu Garcia, Quantum, Diawa, etc make durable reels.

For a trout rod try one of the new st. Croix walleye rods, they're like $110 get a medium to light action. They're a little stiffer than the premier and mojos so you can cast lighter baits like rooster tails.

You can use the same rod for bass and crappie if you get the medium or medium light. But you might want to upgrade to a shimano 2500 for bass, the 1000s don't have a big enough spool for me personally
