Where I live locally, the Metacomet-manadnock trail is great, offering amazing views of the pioneer valley, you can literally see from longmeadow to amherst at the same time at the peaks of the seven sisters mountains, located in amherst/south hadley.
And of course as another posted mentioned, Mt. Greylock is a must for MA hiking. North adams has some wonderful hiking, and be sure to check out the Mohawk trail!
