I don't believe in anything superstitious really. A friend of mine swears his basement is haunted, and a scoff. But I had one short experience while I was West of Alpena, Michigan.
I actually talked about it in a few threads a couple months ago, the "Cool Stuff you've found while /out/" thread, and the "Satanism" one.
I don't know how many fellow Michigan people there are on /out/, but Northern Michigan has some damn nice expanses of forest. I was gonna head back down to Detroit, but I was tired, and I had my /out/ shit with me in the back of the truck. I can't say for sure where I was on the map, I had passed a small town called Lachine, and just turned off of Highway 65 onto Highway 32. Was origninally going to just take 65 down to Interstate 75, but saw that I was passing Thunder Bay River State Forest and Atlanta State Forest. However, there were a lot of woodlands inbetween Thunder Bay and the Highway, so I figured I'd stop along the way, instead of checking into to some crummy motel back in Lachine. I turn onto Glennie Road (I think), drive up quite a ways, and then pull into what I thought was a service road. Was around 7, still light, grab my shit, and walk down a small path I see. I follow it for 2 minutes tops, and the trail bends, I turn a "corner", and I see a goat head nailed to a tree.
Yeah... That's it, that's the story. I do a 180 and get back in my truck, and haul ass out of there. Now, my theory is it was just a bunch of teenagers fucking around in the woods. Nothing better to do in bumfuck nowhere I guess.
And I thought the Cubs had it rough.
