>>483282i mean its really nothing special. i just love it. its a stainless steel kit i got from the coleman outlet which has since closed. i got it when i joined boyscouts (under the false impression that boyscouts would be fun or cool because of stories from my dad) from cub scouts (those stories had a LOT of living up to do) and its a pot and inside two plates sit on the botton and two cup/bowls on top of that with some extra space around them. i put my flatter stove in the bottom of the bottom cup and then the taller stove in the top cup with a lighter and matches. and then around the cops (so they dont rattle) i keep a ziploc bag full of ketchup packets and salt packets etc etc that i snag from the cafeteria or mcdonalds or taco bell (i like their hot sauce packets) etc etc as well as more matches and another lighter.
im 100% certain the windscreen/pot support was thrown out in the move because for some reason my mom kept putting it on the computer desk and putting pencils in it. it was the perfect size to put a water bottle with fuel in it. but wouldnt fit in the mess kit as well.
one camping trip i just found some small sticks and built a pot support by stabbing the Y shaped branches into the ground and laying cross branches on those. like two spits next to each other. it worked pretty well.
like you said, its really only good for boiling water, i suppose something that needed to simmer for a while like a stew or something could work too.
have you made a non-pressurized version? im curious how they stack up in a comparison.
im so jealous of you though, i havent been able to get on a true camping trip in a long time. everyone i know who likes camping is getting jobs etc and cant just take off. i guess the few car camping trips with the fam will have to tide me over until i work up the courage to just go out by myself.
