I've been thinking about picking up a new shelter for my trips this year and I've been wanting to try out hammocks. What do you guys think about this new double layer Hennessy?
Compared to the single layer version...
- 22.2% or $40 more expensive.
- Comes with a supposedly $30 value pad that's supposedly good to 40F or 4C.
- 10% more weight (with stuff sack) without improved weight limit.
I own a 0C synthetic bag and an old full length Therma-Rest Trail Lite self-inflating pad. I was originally just going to get the Expedition zip from MEC.ca and use my pad for insulation. However, I'm worried about getting cold shoulders or sliding off the pad if I go that route.
I'm not sure if I want to order from Hennessy directly either, Hennessy website's price is RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE compared to MEC. For the regular expedtion zip, Hennessy wants $180 USD + $15 USD shipping while MEC sells it for $179 CAD + $20 CAD for snakeskin + free shipping. $253 CAD compared to $200 CAD at current conversion rates. Holy shit.
