How do you guys deal with loneliness? I had my phone and talking to friends but still felt isolated. It didn't occur to me until after that that was the first time I went solo "camping"

I love being secluded. When I am /out/ and I see people, I normally hide from them. I sometimes do groups hiking but I really enjoy the time I spend alone outdoors. Being alone gives me the ability to do whatever I want and I don't have to care about what someone else wants to do.

Some gas stations have really swanky bathrooms. Though sleeping on tile would be horribly uncomfortable.

When I hitchhike, I have enough of a pack to convince rides I won't carjack them. And a towel, like a pro. But I will sleep uncovered in a drizzle. Usually with a knife in hand, in case some critters mess with my ZZZs.

My family and friends freak out because i leave my phone off untill i get back into town.

Some of my best memories of camping and hiking is just lounging in my hammock looking up through the trees contemplating my navel all day long.

Accept that you will get lonely at first especially if you're used to being on all the time. Keep your phone off. And when you settle in for the evening just relax. Grab a stick and draw in the dirt. Watch the squirrels run around. Just decompress.

Your big adventure ended up in a sad nap in a gas station bathroom.

The least I can say is congrats on at least starting the adventure, because that must have been a big step for you (and most people). But you really have to work on your independence, because this is going to be a big handicap in your young adult life.

I didn't call for mama.
When the sun started to rise I walked with blistered feet and my big fucking N00bpack those 16 miles in and 16 miles out.
When I came home fatiqued I took a warm shower and splept for a few hours. When I woked up I instantly starting to hone my loadout, made the next plan A BETTER plan.
I didn't even have a tent just a tarp that night just before wintertime.

OP; the only way you can evolve is to face your fears and conquer them. You have to hone yourself and become a better man.
