Additionally, someone who is dressed wildly different from every person around them is putting in a lot of trouble to mark themselves as different. It's not a stretch to reason that, if this person radically rejects conventional standards in one are that he may do so in another(social interaction, views on property, etc.)
tl;dr, people will avoid you if you dress like a weirdo. It's natural.
