So spending all day wandering inna woods, staring up at the trees, watching the clouds drift by through little holes in the forest canopy. Or watching the rain pour down through the tree tops. Even in the rain I would spend most of the day walking through the woods, usually alone.
Its like I had this natural urge to explore the forest with this general instinct or idea to look for things. Any kind of thing. Though at the time I didnt have a conscious intention or plan that I was looking for things. Essentially thats what I was doing.
So I would scan my surroundings for anything that stood out. Down in a forested valley walking along the bottom of a hillside, looking up at the side slopes, scanning up and down, back and forth like a hunter, looking for anything unusual or anything that caught my eye. Again, looking back on it I didnt have any specific plan or intention of finding particular things, I was just generally exploring I guess. But so this one time while looking up at the hillsides I was walking along something stood out as un natural or different I saw a shape that seemed like it shouldnt be there and my eyes homed in on it like a predator finding its prey. A first it looked like a pile of logs but when I climbed up to it and looked it over they were basically a row of logs lined up side by side and laying horizontally. This was odd because they were laying on the side slope of a somewhat steep hill. Turns out they were the roof to an earthen bunker someone had made. This was one of my first really cool discoveries I ever made.
Someone had cut into the side of this hill and dug out a little area about 4 feet deep and about 8 feet x 8 feet square. Built up around the outsides were bermlike walls, then covered them with all these logs. The logs were obviously form nearby and were partially rotted and covered with moss and lichen. The whole thing covered with leaves and small sticks and things so it was camouflaged pretty well.
