2. metal pot to boil water in

the key for that show is being able to have clean water asap. If you're really confident in your ability to make a bow drill from the materials in your location, small bowl and a good quality cutting tool is the way to go.
Not knowing the actual location, something along the lines of a bk9 would be my choice for a cutting tool. full, hefty tang, medium-long length, suitable to be used as a knife or small machete. Pot for water can really be whatever you want, i'd just use the snow peak pot that I already have. If I was choosing a fire starting method, ferro rod is the fastest/least labor intensive.
