no one outside the military and government is truly equipped enough to even hope to survive in some halfway organized way
hel the people most equipped to survive are people living in extremely poor or otherwise remote areas like central Africa/South Central South America

if you want there are plenty of records from late Roman/post-roman Gaul and how society just fucking collapsed there thanks to the power vacuum and just how big a drop in standards there was until the new rulers managed to build up some sort of stable system
