>>481868The hunting thing will be something I additionally use the jacket for, not exclusively. In fairness, my current eVent jacket (the one pictured in the OP actually) does also rustle quite loud. I was looking at some of the Jack Wolfskin higher end membranes and their softshells look like they had similar MVTR and Waterproof ratings as eVent stuff, so I don't really know what to think about softshells vs hardshells right now.
If Helikon's knives are any indication of their quality then I'd prefer to avoid them as a company.
I've been looking at some Goretex stuff as well, the problem I seemed to find is that the MVTR and waterproof ratings didn't seem to stand up to eVent stuff, though I remember hearing the higher end Goretex membranes were actually pretty good.
I've looking into Bergans of Norway, who have a jacket for like £200 in Coyote Brown but it's not a shell, it's a complete jacket, which I don't really want as I've adopted the ethos of "Become the onion".
