Spring break is coming up and I can either go to Badlands Park in South Dakota and do a two day hike, or I can go to Mammoth Caves/Shawnee Park in Kentucky.

I know nothing about each place, and have never been to Kentucky or South Dakota. Anybody have any experience in either place?

Badlands....
You cannot roam on your own at Mammoth.
And as a cave, Mammoth is not all that beautiful.
There are very few formations--Carlsbad in New Mexico blows Mammoth away.
Never been to Badlands National park, but have hiked many badlands areas in Utah and New Mexico. Badlands terrains can be other-worldly.

Interesting.

Anyone been to Black Hills in South Dakota? I was thinking of going there after Badlands. Maybe heading over to Wyoming if anyone knows anything about that too

Badlands are strange to visit, feels like another planet because the formations are so odd. Really fun place to hike around. Black Hills are GOAT tier though, tons of variation and wildlife to be seen.

I was planning on doing one day in the Badlands, sleeping in my car on a campsite at the Badlands, and then driving out to Black Hills the next day.

Black Hills looks kinda big though, I wasn't sure which trails were good.

I also saw that Black Hills and Badlands both have caves?

So many options, it's confusing.

Oh really? I just saw it on the map and decided I'd go there. What're some good trails on the South Dakota side? The place looks pretty diverse so it's hard to choose.
