Hey /out/. I just turned 18 and have been wanting to do this for awhile now.
I want to go backpacking across the country because I'm itching for adventure and want to step out of both my comfort zone and my monotonous lifestyle. Also because my mother can't support my neet ass and I don't want to get a job at this young age, becoming a wage slave.
Anyway, let's say I have a budget of around 300 dollars. Maybe more, maybe less.
What do I buy? I'm thinking I would just get milsurp shit since they're pretty sturdy, and I'm on a budget. What would you guys recommend?

>Jacket/parka
>Boots
>Knife
>Sleeping bag
>And other must-have supplies
I've done research, but any general tips on backpacking, hitch hiking, train-hopping, and other useful advice to help me on my journey would be appreciated.
ALSO, should I try to group up with another person? I was thinking a gril, since they have tits, thus making it easier to hitch hike. Where would I go about finding other people interested in the same idea?
