Mojave desert trip gear question

I'm pretty experienced at hiking innawoods,but I'm planning a hike in the mojave/aqua dulce.I've only done a drive with my noob friend,but it was pretty fun.thinking of taking:
Cotton tee
cotton overshirt
duster
bandanna
Military surplus boonie cap
lightweight,loose jeans
lightweight synthetic socks
RM williams boots(cowboy boots from australia)
Backpack
lots of water (4 ounces every 15 minutes)
Himalayan imports kukri(for clearing out shrubs or killing scorpions/snakes)

I live in the Mojave, first and foremost, do not do not do not "clear" out shrubs or attempt to kill snakes with a kukri. There's no reason to clear out shrubs, this isn't the jungle, you can go around, and shit makes these bushes their home. Attempting to kill snakes close range is pretty fucking stupid anyway.

As to your clothing choice, one piece at a time.

It rains here, when it does it's hard, it can come on quickly, and last all day. Cotton is going to be miserable if you get caught.

No experience on those, quick google search and they look like they'd be horribly uncomfortable.

Get a water resistant windbreaker of some kind, Mojave, and really most any desert gets windy. Get a pair of light gloves, anything in the dead sun will get hot, and there's a host of other stuff besides insects that will poke you. Sunglasses are advantageous to have for obvious reasons, and if you burn, get sunscreen.

If you can carry concealed, I'd recommend bringing a pistol of your choosing, don't need to get crazy with it, just something to make hard decisions with if you absolutely have to.

I hope not and hope so at the same time. I've had friends come out to visit me and always want to immediately fuck with the wildlife, pick shit up, etc.

I've only ever killed one rattlesnake, and it was with a 5 foot garden hoe. Fuck getting close to those.
