Rain gear

Looking for a good set of rain gear for hiking/ hunting in New England, anyone have experience with the Kuiu Chugach NX? Any other recommendation welcome, I know nothing about rain stuff, just use an old M65 jacket now.

Cabelas has good stuff, if you're bushwacking you don't want ultralight backpacking/climbing type gear.

I wouldn't really wear this bushwhacking, mostly hiking on trails, and in a stand/ blind etc... if it starts to rain.

I've used them before, and they'll keep you dry in a torrential downpour. I just hope you dont mind getting really fucking hot while wearing them, as they do not breathe at all.

I use a frog togg jacket that ive had for years for backpacking

they're super light, if thats a consideration, but also not very durable. Mine has like 6-7 patches on it but it still keeps my relatively dry.

I used to use a heavier, more expensive one, but guess what? it still gets ripped and poked, i still had patches on it, and i was always pissed when something happened because it costs $80+ instead of $15

I finally found a decent jacket in brown... For £50.

Vaude Escape Jacket. The Ceplex stuff sounds pretty awesome (Same breathability as my eVent Hurricane, though not as waterproof at 15,000 mm instead of 35,000 mm which is still great.

I've had to order it from Germany as it wasn't available this cheap or in brown from the UK, but I'm happy to do so (just gotta hope it fits; it should do). Was originally looking at the Laconi which IS available in the UK but would've set me back £160; I think the fleece contributed a lot to that as the Laconi is a 3-in-1 where as the Escape is just a hardshell, but I don't give a shit about the fleece.
