And the duck tape is pretty much useless when /out/, really. Put in some bandages instead. Same goes with the foil. It's great for some Altoids kits, but if you have all your gear, you don't need aluminium foil for anything. If you use it for cooking, it usually ends up in the environment.
I can tell one thing. The moment you start to think these 5 C's or KISS you're kinda retard already. If you need C's to figure out what to pack up, stay at home.
These are my essentials that I never go out even for a dayhike:
-Some protection against the rain (tarp or a trash bag)
-Bank line to set up the tarp or the trash bag
-Container to boil water in (always)
-Bic & a Doan Machinery firestarter (always) with a knife so that I can use it.
