Do any of you sc/out/s want to live or are living "off the grid"? You know, just away from our society and closer to nature. It's always been a dream of mine to find an abandoned cabin somewhere and set up a home where I can live a long and happy life doing private research on wildlife. I'm dead set on doing this as soon as I graduate from college in the next few years with a degree in wildlife biology with a focus on botany.
What are some of the things I could do to reach this goal? What kind of things should I read/do/buy to prepare for such a lifestyle change? Also, it should be noted that I don't have a great knowledge of the innawoods, as well as the fact that I'm 18 and not planning on the shift until I'm in my mid-20s. And yes, I know I don't have great odds of finding a homey cabin or anything like that.
I've looked at a few "off the grid" websites, and while they give some nice information on mini appliances and the like, they're full of conspiracy fucktards who I can't take seriously. Here's to hoping you guys can help.
