>>494651Depends what you need it for. Waterproof isn't a big deal, but when you say "hiking/climbing", you have to realise that there is a real tradeoff between weight and support in a boot. So what you need to decide is whether you're going for say a light hiker, a 3-4 season boot, or a trekking/alpine boot. A good pair of 3-4 season boots will be the most adaptable option if you're only planning on buying one pair of footwear, as they are comfortable enough for normal hikes, but you can still put a flexible crampon on it if need be.
