Literally the best insect repellent out there, and i'm not trolling. Look it up.
It's also a lot cheaper than proper insect repellent.

I don't use insect spray... I just don't like the stuff. I used it for a few weeks and my mechanical pencil turned soft and almost pliable from the stuff getting on it from my hands. After that I just learned to cover myself with clothing and learn to deal with the insanity from mosquito hordes.

This fucks up the water for everyone

There are so many alpine lakes that have foam on the surface from assholes and their soap
The closer you get to the parking lot, the foamier the lakes are

If you have to wash, and I don't think you do, don't get the soap in a lake or stream

Same here, makes me feel all sticky and dirty but I will spray by legs when wearing shorts inna woods and spritz my hat, to help keep mosquitos from buzzing in my ear.

I did get a Thermacell bug repeller and it seems to work pretty good (as long as it isn't windy) and I use it before going to bed, turning it on and leaving it on my cot, while leaving the tent door open, and it drives out any mosquitos who managed to sneak inside.

You need to bring the water at least 200 feet away from the stream, and wash there. You don't want the soapy water to get into the water system at all.

Maybe I should get a flat bottom cooking wok and large steel pitcher and use it as old wash basin and pitcher set up. Pitcher can be used for boiling water and flat bottom wok can cook almost anything with.
