There are some excellent choices that are not really expensive anyways so it is a no brainer.
Hiking shoes with a soft/medium sole can be your every day wear shoes for years.
Just dont buy climbing boots as a first/general choice, I bought some cool looking Lowas that where stiff as fuck and almost obliterated my knees and feet in a long walking trip. I've never felt more pain.
