hey guys,
i am looking at two options

or

i want something that i can just unroll and get in but be small lightweight yet 900mm wide cause i like to sleep on my side like a little homo.

Hoop swag for car camping is gawd tier if you're single and fabulous.

Otherwise, bivvy or 1 man hiking tent for lightweight goodness, or just a tarp and sleeping bag if your area is reasonably mosquito free.

For the sake of everything that is holy, don't buy a traditional envelope type swag. If you're a side sleeper you're going to regret buying any swag that doesn't have hoops.

Nothing beats sleeping in a swag with a no-see-um mesh top and seeing the stars just before you nod off, but if you're doing any more than a weekend worth of short hikes it's gonna be pretty backbreaking for you to carry.

I've no idea what a swag is or why you'd need high density foam.

My sleep system is thus;

Vaude Bivi 1 (pic related)
Synmat WinterLite
Vango Venom 400

All together it's 2.4kg and happily fits in a 30l daypack with room to spare. Suitable for all but the absolute coldest days here in the UK.
I usually also carry DD solo tarp which gives me something to sit under/store my gear under or can be used as an extra ground layer.

What's your budget OP? just get an Oztrail <$200 hoop swag, used one for a few years and it's good enough, though if you set it up on anything with more than a 1 degree angle both your mattress and sleeping bag will slide all over the joint during the night. About the only regret I have with Mine was not getting one like your OP pic with a hoop end at foot end.

Basically a heavy duty Bivi, as an anon said they are GOAT for car camping but too heavy to lug around hiking all day

Because a heavy duty canvas swag is going to keep out more cold and last longer from wear and tear than the average Bivy?

I highly doubt a swag has any thermal benefits over a modern lightweight hooped bivi + sleeping matt.
Not to mention the fact it's not going to be waterproof, weighs several times as much and is literally the size of a 40l rucksack.

op here..... i was going to make a sort of hybrid bivi swag with all of the swag goodness but half the weight and space, i have had swags before but i find that its not the canvas on my head thats the issue but the mattress is too thin and my hip and shoulder feel the ground and the fact im 6foot 2 and 100kgs does not help so finding anything wide enough and compact at the same time is a mission
