Ok... unpopular opinion time!
Too much emphasis in all things /out/ 'is placed on knives.
They have become such a point of concern that it will quickly degenerate into 'muh knive is best' whenever the topic comes up. There are hated brands (like the BG Gerber stuff) and hideously overpriced, and incredibly basic mass produced knives out there (like TOPS and ESEE stuff)
In a real sense, 95% (or more) people from a practical use point of view will not be able actually notice the gap of diminished return on a knife from a Mora 510 and an ESEE4 for what we use them for? (don't get me started about how people want them to baton through tree trunks...)
To me, it's almost like it's an /out/ fashion statement', like man bling for the woods....why to people big them up so much when in reality, here in the UK (britbong y0!) I'm more interested in stuff that can keep me warm and dry.
Well, I've said it now- how many people think the same, or am I mad?
