Metal detecting

Hey /out/,

I dug up this button when I was out metal detecting in South East Finland.
Neither myself, an antique button collector from Finland or /b/ have been able to identify the origin of this button and I'm putting my hopes on you guys.

Anyone have a clue on this?

Also ITT: general metal detecting gear.

You know you're in shit when the one place on the internet known for finding a sauce cannot help you .Best bet if you're not willing to travel is to post multiple high quality photos to the antiques roadshow twitter or something.

Pic related some shitty spoon I found as a kid and kept for twenty years only to find it was shit tier thanks to /b/

The symbol is known as a 'lion rampant'. It's a common heraldic symbol, and features in the Finnish coat of arms. Though the finish lion is wielding a sword and wearing a crown.
If i had to guess, I'd say it was from the 1930-40s and part of a military uniform.
Your best bet to get an origin or dating would be to go to a forum that know about coats of arms and heraldic symbols.
Or a place that knows about finish military memorabilia.

I automatically assumed it is an earlier form of the Finnish Lion Rampant, but the fact that the collector could not identify it as being Finnish threw me off. The guy seemed knowledgeable enough on the matter.
The lack of swords and crown could indicate it stems from a period before Sweden and Russia used Finland as a war zone.

Using a Garrett Ace Euro 350 and a Garrett Pro Pinpointer here. Shoots coins quite well, but can be quite indecisive in poluted grounds.
