>>498917Because I don't have the requisite experience to place my own gear but a huge passion for mountains
>>499276I've hiked some bigger shit and climb extensively when I've got the time. I've been on lead up to 5.8 but that was a treat, none of my 'climbing partners' are capable of a lead belay and I don't really trust them for it anyways.
I do "need" someone to show me the basics though frankly. I've read Freedom of the Hills, I've fucked with my gear endlessly and try to get in where/when I can but working two jobs is fucking hectic, leaving little time to plan trips with people I hardly know. My only mountain exploits with climbing are in the Appalachians, so it's hardly mountaineering.....
Anyways, my thoughts were
>Climb hard and stay fit around home >Take a week off work >Fly out, climb a mountain I pushed myself up some steep snow with a pretty hefty runout whilst alone in Colorado last year, but the circumstances didn't allow me much more than that (in terms of climbing mountains.....) Vertical climbing on anything but bolts and toprope was out of the question given the situation, and as it goes you can't really top rope a mountain......!
