I'll start this thread with a few questions.
At what point does one stop using a hatchet and start using an axe? What is a hatchet specifically for, exactly? I'm kind of a noob at this.

Secondly, is the Husqvarna hatchet a good buy for 40 bucks shipped?

Generally a hatchet is used for smaller jobs like de-limbing. As a rule of thumb anything over 4 inches in diameter you should probably use an ax.
