>>501075This guy has the best so far. I used to be crazy allergic, would get it regularly and bad. Big weeping blisters oozing plasma all over the side of my face and ear was a fun one, looked like a nightmare. I've gotten it so many times and took rhus tox once daily for a summer I spent outdoors and now the past few times I have only gotten a few dots.
Rhus tox is great, its homeopathic, so feel free to dismiss it as bullshit, but I buy it, and even if I don't I buy the placebo effect so whatever. One every few days as a preventative/immunity builder, or one every 4 hours to help speed recovery.
Calamine is great to help soothe, still not sure if it helps heal or not.
Ivy-dry, I think a tecnu product, is a spray that I think helps the healing speed up, at the least it feels nice.
And yes, try to keep it clean and DRY, so no bandages.
worst come to worst, go see, or even call a doc, often they can do a phone prescription for the evil green. I try to avoid steroids though, bad for your health overall... good for your sanity when getting over PI. They can do shots, pills, or creams, but let me tell you those pills taste powerfully bad.
What causes the reaction is an oil on the leaf, if it brushes your clothes, then you brush your clothes with your wrist, it gets on your wrist. If you then scratch your wrist then wipe your nose, you have it on your hand and nose.
Preventing the rash is way better than curing it. know what the plant looks like, and if you think you touched it, wash any skin, clothing, or other items asap to get the oil off. it is an oil, so water will not do. Soap is great, in a pinch, straight up mud scrub. When camping and I notice it brush my clothing, I go change carefully, and store the infected clothing inside out until it can be washed.
Once the oil is no longer present, you are no longer contagious, however the rash may still develop and spread on its own.
Good luck!
