I haven't regretted my Suunto Core.

The compass is not really usable but the Alto/baro is top notch and i use the thermometer all the time. The interface is the best ive ever used, far better than my old G-shock Riseman, which was also awesome BTW.

battery life straight off the bat, the casio is solar powered.

the core can be difficult to read compared to the casio i was told. plus the core doesn't have all the moon/tide data ...

in defence of the core though, the strap might not be Ti, bit I found it a lot more comfortable when we swapped watches for the day

All casio gimmicks like barometer, thermometer, compass etc.. have proven to be unreliable at best. (dont just trust me, google it). Much better off with designated tools.

really depends on where you're at, tide data doesn't matter if you're not near a body of tidal water. moon data isn't really that important aside from tides or if you're a werewolf. sunset/knowing how much daylight you have left is pretty important though, regardless of where you are.

The two brands I always hear about being the best are Casio and Suunto. Casio is cheaper and more rugged, but Suunto watches look a little bit nicer and are more accurate with their readings.

You should look at any watch from the Casio ProTrek line, or a Suunto Core

It was the only solar 5600 a while back but now you have a yellow one too I think.

The only thing that is worse in 5600s than in 6900s is the lack of a big, easily accesible button for the light.

This is the only reason SEAL's are given a 6900 and not a 5600 I would think

Suunto Core. Relatively cheap with a nice big display. And it doesn't look like a happy meal toy.

The Suunto Ambit3 Peak for more features but a potentially short battery life.

I still prefer the 5610.

I only like a negative display on non-digital watches.

Also, the core scratches badly , is more expensive and the fact that the casio looks like a happy meal toy is actually a point in favor.

Nobody will want to steal a 5600, or probably even notice it.
