>>500717It used to be the best place, but since they've been expanding and renovating the stores, prices don't seem as good as they used to be. Sometimes it's even higher than retail stores, so it pays to shop around. They have some pretty good deals on clearance items.
Their stuff is usually good quality but not as good as it used to be when it was made in Canada by Serratus, also in general I find it's not as well designed as it was in the Serratus days, or even 10 years ago - a lot of my favorite products have been discontinued or redesigned to suck more and if you read the reviews a lot of members seem to feel the same way about a lot of current products. I think the Tarn is an old design they have yet to fuck up, though. They've had that tent for years (I don't have one but I think it's supposed to be pretty good).
They've also started carrying a lot of hipster "outdoor lifestyle" crap. I was there Friday and it was pretty sad what's happened to the place. I think it's ironic that these days I go to MEC for my bike commuting clothes and travel stuff but often have to go across the street to Europe Bound for real outdoor stuff.
