stillwater. fish was caught in open water. i hardly ice fish. i was actually out yesterday fishing carp in open water with some success

Huh... We have the exact same pikes and the exact same climate... No wonder half of Sweden emigrated there.
Would bump with some of my catches but they're on my phone. I know a lake where I have never gone fishing (seriously not even once) without getting at least one pike. After a while you get sick of them though because they're not the best fighters and they're not that tasty either.

i love eating pike in fact ive got some in my fridge right now, i do agree they get old after a while though. ive got a stream 10 minutes from home absolutely loaded with them. probably the first 2 dozen fish ive caught this year have been pike

Nice! I never have time during the winter to go ice fishing, but I'm going up to Lake of the Woods with my family this summer.
Last time I was there my dad caught an 18 or 20? inch walleye

there are some really big walleye around the cities here as well. i have caught some 20+ inchers on the sip almost every year since i've been fishing it

We stay at Protheros on the U.S. side. It's just this old as fuck guy and his wife. He built 5 cabins and all the furniture for them and rents them out during the summer. Nice people.

will you be musky fishing at all while you're up there? if so you should check out portage bay. some really nice weed beds back there and just endless muskies. also the water seems way more clear back in that bay. if you check it out just be careful going through the pass back there. i hit a rock and tore the lower unit off my boat coming into that bay 2 years ago. also the island monument bay lodge is/was on has a lot of muskies around it. i used to stay there before they sold the resort.

I guess the taste is nice but the lake is at my tiny country lodge that is nearly 300 years old by now so there's no ventilation to speak of. And pike smell like just like vagina does two hour after sex where you came inside her...

A very distinctive smell that isn't very appetizing to be honest. If you have a fan or something they're good to eat though
