Hey /out/

I'm in the process of acquiring new boots for hiking. I'm a LEO, and we happen to get a 75% discount on pic related. It's the ecco gtx professional, with vibram sole.

I know theyre "designed" for patrul duty, but how do you guys think they would work as hiking boots?

They'll do fine, but sneakers work better for most hiking.

Yeah they'll work fine. You can probably get pro deals through promotive and possibly outdoor prolink. Get some five ten boots/shoes.

I've tried 2 pairs of those. Neither lasted. Stitching came undone in places after about 8 months of daily wear.

depends on how rugged the terrain is. i'm assuming >>503144 and >>502989 are trolling, and >>503257 is either trolling or an idiot, but the idea of using low top hiking shoes is getting to be really popular. for easier terrain, the super ankle stability isn't as necessary, and actually causes more people to toe in and trip. rougher terrain and heavier packs mean that slipping a little can be pretty catastrophic on your ankles, so better support is necessary.

simple day hikes, a decent low top trail shoe with a good vibram lugged outsole is awesome.

I picked up a pair of combat boots from an army surplus store for $50. That was a few years ago now. I don't just were them out in the bush either, they are pretty much my everywhere but work summer footwear. They are still holding strong.
