Good ventilation habits: Always keep flap open, make another flap on other side keep that one open too, better to be slightly cold and ventilated that sweating and overheated.
Some people recommend tyvek as a ground sheet since its lighter, and virtually free if someone is house painting. Needs a wash first though since it crinkles loudly.

Pots tied to outside of pack everything stuffed inside. Avoid cheap aluminium and expensive titanium, both noob traps. You can get cheap stainless steel but if you buy quality it will last.

Backpack buying tips, check bottom, hold it up to light look through, check all seams (step inside it and pull sides up), check zippers, check straps, step on back and pull straps up
AVOID: plastic buckles, thin materials, useless zippers.
Think of a good pack as a bucket with straps. Most commercial backpacks are just pure shit or overdesigned.
