A few bungie cables on your tether so its less likely to rip while the wind has its way with the tarp and you'll be fine..
If you're expecting hail in any capacity, up your gear to handle it. Biggest I've sustained was 3/4 the size of a baseball. My poor car. :( (Windows were thankfully intact but it got dented up pretty bad. Texas for the win.)
My tarp didn't survive the trip by the way. but it kept me from being beaten and bloody via balls of macelike ice.
