Do you bring a camera with you when you go out?

I by no means call myself a photographer, but when Im out I like to take photos with my phone. I might swipe my Moms camera next time Im there, its pretty nice and she never uses it.

This is a simple one I took on a bike ride.

Fuck man, those things don't die. My dad shown me how to butcher one to make turtle soup when I was around 13. The heads will still snap at you SEVERAL HOURS AFTER DECAPITATION.

Yup ... I"m the unofficial crew photographer.

Which is cool, I get some great shots of everybody else ... but rarely get any of me riding.

Helmet cam (old Contour 1080p), ~6yr old Sony (6mp, 12x optical zoom... "bridge camera", more than a point-and-shoot but not as well featured as a DSLR, but sharing similarities between the two).

Also have a Nikon D90 and a handful of glass/strobes/filters for that. Takes great shots, but it's a bit of work to get everything set up, dialed in, and actually *get* a good shot with it.

Contour sits on my helmet (duh), Sony sits in the case on my tunnel on the snowmobile or in my pack on the motorcycle, Nikon lives in my pack.

Plus your choice in glass. Most of the time I've got my ultrawide on there, that's just a fun lens. I'd rather get up-close-and-personal with the subject than pull them in with a longer lens.

I'm like that sometimes, if i'm with a smaller group (1-2 other people) and we're riding hard, I don't usually stop for pics.

Bigger groups mean somewhat slower rides, gives me some time to set up and take pics.

Solo, i'm on my own schedule. Depends on what I feel like, some days I ride to shoot, other days I ride to ride. Pic was a ride-to-shoot ride.

I'm the same way when I go four-wheeling. I take all the pictures and video. People make fun of me when I stop to take pictures, but when I post the pictures on Facebook later on, they're like "I'm glad you took pictures".

Gotta be quick with it. I ride with a few guys who produce snowmobile vids, and riding with them ... It's cool, because you'll get into some damn good terrain, but when you get to an untouched meadow of snow and the sun's out ... end up sitting on the edge while one or two other guys set up cameras, radio back to one rider, and the one guy puts first tracks down. Pack up camera gear, then an hour after we got to the meadow we're riding again.

I can stop, pop open the case on my tunnel, take a shot or two, stuff the camera back in there, close/latch the case, and be riding again before the guy behind me's caught up.

My shots usually turn out decent, I don't get many complains when I do stop to shoot something.
