Camping in western europe?

Is it still possible? Here in The Netherlands its forbidden and the forrests here are not big enough. Same counts for belgium.

I want to camp and hike without seeing a person. USA and Canada has perfect places for that. But do we also have some? And where its legal to camp and hike?

Bongland? Yup. It's not "illegal" to camp, if you don't fuck everything up and burn the forest down or litter or make lots of noise no one cares.

You can walk for days without seeing someone in Scotland and there are little hidden valleys and wildernesses in England and Wales which haven't been touched in years. Northern England is quite sparsely populated.

If you go in the Ardennes, you can find a lot of forests where you can samp (still illegally but you can avoid being caught easily).
There also are some places where you can camp legally in the woods : http://www.asadventure.com/befr//content/fr/le-camping-sauvage-en-belgique
(sorry, can't find a NL version, but there are GPS coordinates at the end).
Basically, it's a marked point with a water source and room for three tents.
If you have a car (lol NL only bicycles for you), you can travel to France. Camping is allowed if you're not in a natural park or at less than 200 meters from the habitations.

Oh, by the way, when I say "camping", i mean setting up you tent 1 hour before sunset and leaving early in the morning. Not putting ten tents with fifty people, large bonfire and alcohol.

And be cautious with fire.

Also along the Swedish/Norwegian border it's a lot of woodland. Femundsmarka and that area is easily accessible with public transportation.

There are public campsites in the Netherlands that are free to be used though they are oddly located at times. I forgot the holland names for those but I'm sure you can find it easily by searching for it in your native language
