>>509572my cat is 10 years old. She goes everywhere with me. When she was a kitten she would perch on my shoulder and I'd walk around with her. We would walk to the office and spend all day with me.
I started taking her camping at a young age too. We usually tent camp at state parks, not much hiking. She wanders around the campsite and comes back when we call her.
Her and the dog are arch enemies at home. We have an akita that likes her and respects the cat as the boSs. But the cat won't be caught dead laying with her, except when we're camping. Then she'll curl up against the dogs belly at night.
If we go hiking we try to leave the cat at home. Occassionally when we camp if our hike will be about an hour we'll take her with a little caddy that attaches to my pack so she can sit more easily. Beyond that hour she gets irritable and hissy.
