Does anyone else use mason jars or some other uniform rigid container for carrying food while backpacking?
Obviously plastic containers are lighter, does anyone have any suggestions for economical and lightweight, yet still rigid containers?
I've found that one of the most annoying things for me when backpacking or camping is not heavy load or long mileage, but rather all of the sticky wrappers and trash produced from food. I usually try to dehydrate and prepare all of my own food, so jars or other storage makes sense, but if I do use any packaged foods I'll unwrap them at home and cram a jar full of them.
So I guess thread for food storage while backpacking?
