I'm not much of an /out/doorsman, and I don't really like nature all that much. But the few times I've slept in a tent, I've loved having a blanket. Also just for sitting somewhere wrapped up in it. Blankets are awesome.
As to OP, I'd definitely recommend something like 2x1.5m, at least. Nothing sucks as much as too small a blanket, and wrapping the excess around your feet is super comfy.
