The reason that they don't publicly worry about it anymore is in their philosophy: Shit has already happened and the situation is as it is. People have talked and thought about it very much.
The desaster will not go away quicker if everybody loses their mind and gets histerical.
Life must go on. They are doing what is technologically possible to resolve the situation, but the truth is: We as humans can only do so much when a reactor totally fucks up.
Even a highly developed, high tech country with the one of the strongest 'work morale'.
We should really develop lead coated power armors or better robots to deal with shit like that on the future.
About the topic, I am swiss and luckily our nature is more or less healthy.
We have Lucens, wich is a failed reactor cavern. It seeps a bit of radiation but nothing like a Fukushima.
I think the Tank shooting ranges in the mountains are also quite messed up.
When travelling, the filthiest place I have seen was egypt. In the hotel you have'recycling boxes' where you separate the trash. If you drive around you realize that they just throw everything on the floor outside of the cities, wich results in a flat, dry area that is evenly covered with all kinds of thrash.
It's like they don't give a shit about living in a giant trash dump.
