>>520386I used the Scarpa Fuegos and loved them.
Pros:
-Cheaper
-Lower heel (the high heel on Whites, Nicks, Drews, etc is nice up slope but was murder on my knees going downhill)
-Low maintenance (don't need to be oiled like the Whites and the upper doesn't crack, foam doesn't affect them as badly if you have the luxury of wet mop-up)
-Lighter
-More comfortable in my opinion
-Waterproof
-NFPA approved
Cons:
-Cant rebuild (like Whites, etc)
-Takes a while to break in, it's like wearing ski boots for a week or two
-Lasts about 1 hard season (but you can always use last years for station days/project work and spare the new seasons boots some wear)
-Be prepared to catch shit from the traditionalists
Other points:
The Scarpas are IMO more comfortable than the Whites and also more durable than Lowas, a good mix. You can use them for shit other than fire and not look like a douche (they have crampon welts if you're into mountaineering). They are well insulated, which can be a pro or con (hot foot! takes them a bit to get hot but once they do they stay hot for a while). The sole is durable, never had any issues with delam and I stood in some hot shit. I do wish the sole had some grooves at the toe for better traction.
