>>521057>How can you sleep on the ground? I can't do it.I sleep on the ground until last year; in Boy Scots back in the day, I just threw the sleeping bag on the floor of the tent.
In high school and afterward, I used air mattresses but they would inevitably get leaks and be flat by morning and weren't of much value in colder weather, as they act as a radiator and shunt heat out of the body, leaving me shivering by morning.
Then I discovered Therm-a-Rest pads and happily used one for years and while not as thick and comfortable as an air mattress, I didn't freeze my ass off.
But the year before last, I found that while sleeping on the ground wasn't a problem, getting down and back up again was becoming an issue, as my knees have gotten progressively more fucked up with age, (47 year old here) so I decided to get a cot.
Picked up the Cabela's Lounge Cot last year (which I call the "Cleopatra Cot") and though it's admittedly bulky and expensive, it's hell-for-stout, very comfortable and (with a clip-on light) allows me to read in bed before falling asleep and most importantly, I can easily get in and out of bed without being subjected to sharp pains in my knees.
