This board has given me a new interest in the idea of camping, but I haven't camped since I was 12, so over a decade ago. So how about a quick Q&A to help me out?
1. I don't want to be in a cabin, and I don't really want to be around a lot of people. I typically want this to be an isolated experience. Cab I still manage that by just going to a local campsite?
2. What's the ideal length of a camping trip, especially for someone new. I'm not planning on living in the woods but I would like to last more than a day.
3. How much money (American doll hairs) am I looking to put up. Will I need top of the line gear?
4. When is the best season to go? Or even month?
5. Am I ruining the experience by cutting corners with modern technology. (I.e. a gps, a fire log, lighter fluid and matches, stove, etc)
A lot of the guides on the sticky are helpful for determining food to eat and such, but is rather hear it from /out/casts personally. The more information the better right?
Thanks in advance.
