So anyone have any information or experience with going on expeditions? I feel like its something Id be interested in, just not sure what skills Id need to learn.

what kind of expedition are we talking?
in general that shit is expensive as fuck
you need to be an active researcher producing publications with your expedition that make it worthwhile for a university or institute to send you there.
if you are really really lucky and a relevant researcher likes you while you study he MAY drag you along and give you some easier and annoying thing to do.

theres of cause also private expeditions, but will will need for this yourself and in aint cheap.

I'm sorry and as sad as it is: it is really really hard to find a way to get paid doing something like this.
Your best bet will most probably be showing private people interesting things.

I've done so. Basically, you need to be studying in a Uni or be a member of Project Wallacea.
Not way too many skills required besides knowing how to live in a camp, eating MREs and ocasionally shooting lizards (and shoving them in alcohol afterwards).

I've been on an expedition, but probably not some polar expedition you're thinking about.
I think about two years (??) ago there was a really cool /out/ guy that manage to go to McMurdo, but he just had to wash dishes and he hated hit, but i think it was cool he had the opportunity. I think he just went on ship that went to McMurdo,
anyone that remembers more about this?
