Does /out/ wear a vest or plate carrier while doing /out/ things? i wear pic related with a dump pouch on each side while foraging.

I have my belt knife, and an old rothco pouch that I keep my small fire kit in, an opinel, finger sized ferro rod, and a bic, as well as various tinder I come across.

I have a VISM vest.Most of the gear I use it for is on the belt -- two medium pouches, deployment bag(butt pack), hatchet. It's reasonably comfortable, not a bad grab for the $20 I picked it up for.

What is wrong with you?

Small, lighweight chestrigs can be pretty practical, especially for hunters. A small chestrig with binoculars, some ammo etc. would be great when carrying a large rucksack as belt pouches would interfere with the hip belt, and danglig binos are always in the way and snagging onto stuff.

That actually sounds really nice. With a hatchet, it'd be a godsend. Longfire in the evening, a raised wooden bed with needles for mattress, tarp over the setup, reflector wall and that's cozy as fuck

Any reason to not wear a ballistic helmet while /out/? Obviously in a forested environment, an attacker could easily lie in wait and ambush my uncovered head if I was only wearing a plate vest.
