I hate to start another archery thread, but none of the current ones seem to address this topic.

I'm just starting to get into bow making, and know a little about the process, but I can't find good advice about types of wood to use. I don't have much money to buy wood so I plan on using what I have on my land. Do any of you have experience with making bows with Aspen, or White Pine (which are most common where I live). Should I dry the wood before shaving it down?
