Not saying that I wouldn't like some pricey but high-grade gear, just saying that I can go hiking for years on the cheap side.
That said, hiking/camping is NOT a main hobby, so yeah, I'm not that keen on dumping mad cash into it. Just my opinion, I actually kind of agree with you on the overall idea.
