>>531612>what year would you suggestTBH I don't know that much about Hondas (I'm a KTM/Polaris guy) so I won't be too much help in that department.
>Australia btw..Quick google query shows $1k USD ≈ $1300 AUD. Which ... is gonna be tough, considering $1k AUD ≈ $750 USD.
>use 3-4 times per year>pretty heavy use through rugged terrain for up to 2 weeksKeep up with your maintenance. "Winterize" the vehicle when you're not using it...
If you don't split the engine, make sure you change the oil and run it around the block a bit to get the fresh stuff through all the passages.
Some people like fuel stabilizer, personally I'd just drain/dry it all (fuel tank, carb, coolant). Put the battery (if it's got one) on a float charger. Clean/oil the air filter (And check it and exhaust for rodents before you fire it up next time).
Make sure it's in good mechanical condition before you go, 2 weeks isn't that long. Bring some spare parts, bolts, couple chain links/master links spare tube, headlight, etc and tools you need to do basic maintenance.
Some guys that run rallye races will ziptie another new brake/throttle/clutch line next to the existing one - if something fails, they can easily switch out both ends and be back in the race.
If your carb's in good shape (seals, jetting), engine's got good compression (valves/piston, rings, cylinder, head/gasket) and bottom end/transmission's strong... engine should be fine. Suspension may need some tuning/service for your application (possibly revalve if it's a wildly different setup), but fork seals/fluid isn't too hard to knock out in an afternoon. Make sure the bearings (steering, swing arm/linkage, front/rear wheels) are in good shape and greased.
