they need to be calibrated, but they're also worthless
topo map gives you exact position and altitude, this is static information which has already been mapped , and you dont need a sensor for it
i use both paper maps and GPS (paper as backup)
i always know the exact altitude im at, and a barometer is equally worthless because its quite fucking obvious what the weather is doing, unless you're fully retarded
anyway the SGW100 compass is not really needed, but it's extremely nice to have because i don't carry a compass anyway, and since it's already in my watch, then why not?
still nice to have as a backup
