Fleece as under quilt?

No.533074 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Looking for opinions on something I was going to try out.

So I just got into hammock backpacking the last two years. Have both a hammock and tarp now.

I don't have money for under quilt at the time. And that is not a big problem mostly. I only do summer sleeping hammock backpacking so far.

I do get bit chilly at times. When I camp near river, or stream, and 5k+wildness. My idea was to take my -1lb fleece liner / sleeping bag. As a liner. Then I started thinking I could use it as a under quilt it's self. Rig with some stretchy lines and fold if I can.

Do you think under quilt made from fleece sleeping bag would help at all? I worry it's not windproof much and not that insulating ..but maybe it's just what I need for breezy summer night.
I have good down bag rated below freezing.
